Wine Wednesday!

wine wednesday nine stones shiraz

Summer is so close I can taste it! The yard bunnies are out and about, we’ve been enjoying several good meals out on the porch, and the sun doesn’t set until late— it’s a beautiful time of year!

To go with that fun summer spirit, here is a tasty little Shiraz that would work great for a steak grilled to perfection on a warming spring night. It’s an Australian wine (those Australians definitely do Shiraz right!) from Nine Stones vineyards. We paid $14 for the bottle, perfectly reasonable for a table wine with dinner or for entertaining a couple of friends. This bottle was a 2009.

My notes:

  • color- dark purple
  • scent- fresh, fruity
  • taste- earthy, mineral, touch of spice
  • very enjoyable

The professionals?

“Ripe and generous, with a minerally edge to the blackberry and cardamon flavors, remaining open and inviting through the long, deftly balanced finish. Drink now through 2017.”
