This week’s selection is an Australian blend of Shiraz and Cabernet. It’s a Jip Jap Rocks red wine from 2008. I received this bottle as a gift, so I can’t offer you the price, but I’m sure it’s affordable and it’s really quite good! It has consistently scored in the upper 80’s of several wine ratings. I have to say that I am becoming quite the fan of Australian wines recently!
Here are my notes:
- dark cherry color
- aroma of cherries
- full bodied with a smooth finish
- flavor of cherries with a hint of vanilla
And here is what the winemaker has to say about their wine:
“Bright purple. Energetic cherry and blueberry aromas display an exotic hint of licorice. Youthful, bright red and dark berries on the palate with a lingering finish.”
